Award-winning author of Greeting Flannery O'Connor at the Back Door of My Mind, co-author of Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance, and creator of Silk-Featherbrush Artstyle. Aberjhani (a.ka. Skylark) is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and former editor for the U.S. Air Force. He is an advocate of the human rights and cultural arts principles espoused by PEN American Center, the Academy of American Poets, and Charter for Compassion. His creative nonfiction, poetry, and journalism help lay the foundation for contemporary social justice campaigns and his works are frequently quoted in support of them. He has authored and/or edited more than 2 dozen books in multiple genres, 4 of them poetry. His titles include: "The Black & Blue Red Zone Days," "Dreams of the Immortal City Savannah," "Journey through the Power of the Rainbow: Quotations from a Life Made Out of Poetry"; “Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance” (Facts On File/Infobase); “ELEMENTAL, The Power of Illuminated Love”; “The American Poet Who Went Home Again”; “The Wisdom of W.E.B. Du Bois”; “I Made My Boy Out of Poetry”; and, “The River of Winged Dreams”. He also served as editor for the Civil War Savannah book series, which includes the best-selling titles: "Savannah, Immortal City"; and, "Savannah: Brokers, Bankers, and Bay Lane." As the National African-American Art Examiner columnist for AXS Entertainment, he wrote extensively about contemporary poets and poetry, racial and social disparity in America, the Barack Obama presidency, humanitarian responses to natural disasters, the life and death of Michael Jackson, contemporary art, and other subjects. He has also won numerous awards for his writings and the founded the former Creative Thinkers International online community.
